Care home group casualty as Moorfields appointed administrators

Continued strain in the healthcare sector has taken its toll on yet another care home group in the Midlands.

Care specialists Simon Thomas and Arron Kendall of Moorfields have been appointed joint administrators over 3 care homes in the Midlands.

Over 230 jobs at risk in specialist care home  

All 3 of the homes will continue to trade whilst Moorfields look for a buyer, with the aim of preserving more than 230 jobs and safeguarding nearly 100 service users.

The care homes, located in Bilsthorpe, Bulwell and Burton specialise in care for adults with learning disabilities, autism and other complex needs.  

Local authorities remain a challenge for care homes  

We are keen to find a buyer for the group but offers will be considered for the homes in isolation. Arron Kendall, joint administrator commented

“Similar to many care homes the group was entirely dependent on local authority residents. Local Authority squeezes are continuing to put more and more pressure on care homes, and the increase in living wage is only further exacerbating the situation”
