Moorfields appointed Administrators over Mental Healthcare Charity

Simon Thomas and Shelley Bullman of leading insolvency and restructuring firm Moorfields Corporate Recovery LLP were appointed joint administrators of specialist healthcare charity, Mental Health Care Ltd on the 24 May 2013.

The charity, which has been established for over 20 years, operates the Benfield Hall and Kimblesworth care homes in County Durham, both of which specialise in the provision of residential mental healthcare support for adults with conditions such as anxiety disorder, bi-polar disorder, depression and schizophrenia. The charity also operates a community cafe and garden maintenance business.  

Healthcare insolvency specialists, Moorfields Corporate Recovery, will ensure the homes continue to operate as usual and will look to sell them on a going concern basis. Interested parties are invited to contact the joint administrators.

Simon Thomas, joint administrator at Moorfields Corporate Recovery, said: “The healthcare sector is consistently finding itself in the public spot light and the specialist care sector is no exception. The challenges over the standard of care and funding cuts have applied constant pressure.

It is unfortunate that such a well regarded charity is in administration but the care of the residents is paramount so we will continue to trade the care homes whilst we look for a buyer. We have taken steps to ensure the quality and standards of care are maintained and we are committed to ensuring residents experience minimum disruption.”
